Job Purposes::

The Dayton Regional STEM School seeks a highly motivated individual to join the faculty and staff for the 2025-2026 school year to provide a comprehensive counseling program for the DRSS high school students; consult with teachers, parents and staff to enhance their effectiveness in helping students; and provide support to the administration and teachers in other activities as assigned.

Required Qualifications::

• An advanced degree (Master's or higher), or enrolled in school counseling Master's degree program
• Licensed School Counselor in Ohio or able to obtain alternative license by August 1, 2025
• Excellent written and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications::

• 2 or more years experience as a high school counselor
• Experience working in a high school environment

Essential Functions and percent of time::

Academic – 25%

• Conduct Individual meetings with students and parents
  
• Prepare and deliver classroom lessons based on determined needs
  
• Participate in team meetings with teachers
  
• Lead Response to Intervention process for grades designated by CAO
  Counseling – 25%
  
• Conduct individual counseling with students/parents
  
• Serve as consultant to teachers and other staff members
  
• Plan and lead small group counseling sessions
  Scheduling – 15%
  
• Assist with the annual scheduling process for high school students
  College/Career Experience – 20%
  
• Guide individuals and small groups of students through the development of educational and future career plans
  
• Supervise the administration of career assessments and inventories
  * Support students in work based learning activities – job shadowing, internship, etc.
  Testing and Analysis – 10%
  
• Support the administrators with organization and administration of state and other standardized testing
  
• Disseminate testing results to the DRSS staff and help develop plans for improvement of test scores
  Professional/Program Development – 5%
  
• Pursue continuous growth through attendance at regional conferences; read professional journals; take post-graduate courses
  
• In conjunction with the middle school counselor and administration, plan and evaluate the school counseling program, grades 6-12

Working Conditions::

Length of contract is one year contingent upon funding. Special contract terms and conditions of employment apply.
