Recruitment Manager – Military Community

Location: Remote (U.S.) or Chicago, IL | Full‑time | Reports to: Head of Marketing

About Code Platoon Code Platoon is a nonprofit coding bootcamp that prepares Veterans, active duty Servicemembers, military spouses, and adult military children for high‑growth careers in software development. Since 2016, we have graduated 700+ students into roles at companies such as Amazon, JP Morgan Chase, and DRW. Our mission‑first culture combines rigorous, industry‑aligned training with individualized career support to unlock economic mobility for the military community.

Core Responsibilities

Prospect Engagement & Advising

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Veterans, spouses, dependents, and active duty Servicemembers from first inquiry through cohort start.
  • Conduct discovery calls, email outreach, and 1‑to‑1 advising to clarify goals, program fit, funding options, and next steps.
  • Host engaging virtual information sessions and represent Code Platoon at base education fairs, transition assistance workshops, and partner events.

Pipeline Management

  • Own the applicant pipeline inside HubSpot: build workflows, score leads, and keep stages accurate and actionable.
  • Track funnel metrics, analyze trends, and recommend data‑driven improvements to marketing and admissions strategy.

VA Education Benefit Guidance

  • Educate prospects on GI Bill®, VET TEC, VR&E, SkillBridge, scholarships, and financing; liaise with internal certifying officials to resolve benefit questions.

Collaboration & Content

  • Partner with the marketing team to craft audience‑specific messaging, email sequences, and social content that drive inquiry and application volume.
  • Provide frontline insights to inform creative assets, landing pages, and advertising tests.

Continuous Improvement

  • Document and iterate on recruitment playbooks, objection‑handling scripts, and event formats.
  • Benchmark industry best practices from other bootcamps and higher‑ed institutions.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years full‑cycle student recruitment, admissions, or talent acquisition experience; quota‑carrying sales background a plus.
  • Demonstrated success advising military‑connected individuals on education or career pathways.
  • Hands‑on CRM expertise (HubSpot strongly preferred); ability to build reports and automate workflows.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to groups of 5‑200.
  • Strong organizational skills and a bias for action; able to prioritize in a fast‑moving, remote environment.
  • Familiarity with VA education benefits (GI Bill®, VET TEC, VR&E) and related compliance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Military Veteran, spouse, or dependent; or deep professional network within the military community.
  • Experience recruiting for a coding bootcamp, higher‑ed tech program, or software talent agency.
  • Knowledge of web development, cloud, or DevOps career pathways.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Flexible work hours. Code Platoon operates on U.S. Central Time Zone, so availability for meetings between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Central is appreciated.
  • Occasional evening/weekend events and 10–15 % travel to conferences, bases, and home office.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary range: $ 45,000 – $ 55,000, commensurate with experience.
