Salary Range: Up to $42,000-$53,512 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
Hours: up to 40 hours per week, exempt.

Essential FunctionsJob SummaryThis is a grant-funded position with an expected ending date of September 29, 2029 and may be extended or shortened based upon availability of grant funds and/or work.Coach and advise UTSA Master's students selected by xQuant@ACOB, guiding them from the initial phase through graduation. Coaching is focused on student retention, program completion, and on advanced career and further graduate studies exploration for research-oriented students. The Student Success Coach will collaborate closely with the xQuant@ACOB Project Director and the QR Pathway Director (a College of Business faculty member) to coordinate coaching activities.
Core Responsibilities
- Responsible for holistic and comprehensive student coaching to include finances, family and community, career goals, commitments, and more to ensure retention, completion of studies, and improved career prospects.
- Serve as a coach to prospects and students selected by xQuant@ACOB to aid in knowledge development, skills, attitudes, and beliefs they need to succeed in graduate school and their advanced careers.
- Responsible for coaching prospects and enrolled students to improve enrollment, persistence, retention, completion, and post-graduate studies and career readiness.
- Responsible for assisting research-oriented students in understanding their academic career path, simplifying the Ph.D. application process, and improving their application prospects.
- Advises students using telephone, e-mail, video chat and other tools regarding core, major, support work, graduation, mentoring opportunities and university requirements keeping accurate records of student advising contacts and progress toward a degree.
- Assists and supports the xQuant@ACOB Project Director in the organization and delivery of a successful coaching program to include facilitation of individual and group sessions.
- Responsible for interpreting, formulating, and evaluating institutional rules to students and for facilitating the exchange of academic advising information by participating in the delivery of academic advising services to students.
- Obtain coaching certification by participating in regular training and professional development.
- Manages and maintains regular contact with prospects and leads for post-graduate programs/career exploration to remove barriers that would otherwise hinder the process.
- Monitors student academic progress, communicating with each student regularly and on a personalized basis, intervening as necessary.
- Updates the xQuant@ACOB Project Director with regular data reporting on applicants, enrolled students, and alumni.
- Process degree plans, register students, and verify requirements using Student Information Systems.
- Serves as a lead by providing training, guidance, and indirect supervision.
- Develops and implements departmental projects.
- Performs work tasks in a safe manner and in accordance with work instructions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited institution.
- Two (2) years of experience working with college students or adolescents in an academic advising or related capacity.
- A Bachelor's degree and an additional two (2) years of Academic Advising or related experience may substitute for the Master's Degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited institution in Counseling, Education, or related field.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Ability to work with sensitive information and to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with student records systems.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Personal computer and standard office equipment.

Working ConditionsWorking Environment:
- Office Environment.
- May be asked to work extended hours within a varying schedule, which may include weekends and evenings.
- Occasional travel to professional meetings and conferences.
Physical Demands:
- Sedentary: Up to 10lbs - Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
This position will require working both
remotely in Texas and on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.
