Position Summary

Provides administrative/operational support for Pediatrics Research Operation.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides administrative/operational oversight of assigned program/project.
  • Develops project/program goals, objectives and plans in collaboration with management.
  • Oversees implementation of project plan, monitor, track and evaluate progress.
  • May manage/oversee work of staff and/or student workers.
  • Conducts research, collect/analyze data, oversee data entry.
  • Complete special projects as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Support Services

  • Creates and maintains work order system for Support Services in addition to assigning and helping to prioritize work orders and ensure tasks are completed â“ daily.
  •  Monitors Support Services email account for work orders.
  •  Meets weekly with Support Services to review work orders in person.
  •  Keeps Support Services/Mailing aware of large items arriving on the dock.
  •  Places work orders with Facilities (i.e., hood connect/disconnect, plumbing, carpentry, electrical).   Keep Director and Contact informed of requests so they can be approved/disapproved.

 

Lab Equipment

  • Creates and maintains Microsoft Access equipment inventory database for MPRB which includes emergency contact list and cards.  
  • Runs reports from equipment inventory database â“ by PI, by equipment, by building, etc.
  •   Reviews p hysical inventory annually.
  • Maintains spreadsheet of common equipment and keep labs informed of any changes.
  • Keeps IT informed of -80 contact info for netbotz alarm system.
  • Updates asset system.   Adds missing information, update location, PI.   Runs reports when requested.   Works with Contamination Control to ensure that tissue culture hoods are recertified annually.
  • Assists with Lab Archives â“ giving permission to users, updating content.

 

Space/Moves

  • Assists/advises with space planning and ensure both lab space and clinical research space is being utilized efficiently.   Includes making mock maps.
  • Assists labs, along with Support Services, ordering large equipment (freezers, incubators, etc.) locating space and making sure electrical is correct.
  • Schedules and attends Lab Committee meetings.
  • Meets with new labs to assist with compliance (e.g. guide labs to create âœBlue Book❠set up, ensure appropriate signage is posted, etc.).
  • Meets with new PIs along with Director to discuss needs.   Ensures space is move-in ready, phone, chair, paint, clean, etc.   Prepares pamphlet for new PIs.
  •   Maintains maps and assist with assignment of space for new employees.
  •   Completes the inventory assignment portion of Manage Space.   Walks the space, keep track of usage, work with PIs and lab members.   Maintains a floor spreadsheet.   Runs report to ensure accuracy in OSIS.
  •   Lab Moves:   Works with project planner if a large move.   For smaller moves, assist Support Services with equipment location, etc. Assists lab with spaces they can use (i.e., cold room, TC room).

 

Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S)

  •   Acts as Liaison with Environmental Health and Safety Department and laboratory personnel.
  •   Oversees close out procedure for labs departing (removal of radioactive, bio-hazardous, chemicals, recyclable chemicals, and other waste). Ensures items from equipment/cold rooms are removed, work with labs to clean lab, work with housekeeping and oversee lab decommissioning.  
  • Coordinates annual laboratory safety inspections with EH&S.
  • Oversees eye wash safety inspections.   Inspections saved to WUSTL Box/SharePoint for EH&S.

Salary Range

$49,700.00 - $82,100.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
