Summary: The Library Supervisor is responsible for creating and implementing an effective, proactive library program that supports and enhances the learning experience of Mercy High School’s students. As a member of the Mercy High School faculty, the Library Supervisor must be supportive of the mission and values of Mercy High School and the Sisters of Mercy, possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills, be self-directed but also able to perform as part of a team. The Library Supervisor also oversees all make-up testing
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
● Oversees all clerical functions of the library, including the use of the library’s circulation and catalog databases to maintain inventory of library resources. ● Provides instruction to teachers and students on how to navigate and access the electronic research databases, including general research skills and techniques including Noodletools. ● Partners with teachers in providing students with individual and class instruction on accessing and evaluating information resources. ● Uses the automated circulation system (Follett Destiny) to check materials in and out and generate statistical reports on material and database usage. ● Processes and barcodes new materials and enters into the catalog database. ● Repairs any damaged material or remove from circulation and document appropriately. ● Manages electronic databases available to students and communicates the accessibility to both students and teachers. Negotiates vendor contracts in partnership with school administration. ● Manages the library web pages to ensure easy access for students and faculty to the library resources. ● Maintains budget numbers for planning for future years. ● Selects new materials, including print, electronic, periodical, and video sources. ● Assists students with individual and small group computer and printer use. ● Oversee library space management, inclusive of upgrade recommendations ● Manages study hall periods, maintaining an academic atmosphere. ● Supervises make-up testing during study halls, collaborations, and after school. ● Oversees the technology in the library and contacts appropriate personnel for maintenance. ● Selects and purchases materials for the library in collaboration with the Assistant Head of School for Academics. ● Manages equipment and projects for the TinkerSpace.
● Supports the Resource Coordinator and AP Coordinator for AP exam testing. ● Supports additional duties that arise.
Additional Responsibilities: ● May be called upon to teach one section in a relevant field, based on background and departmental needs ● Willingness and availability to undertake co-curricular responsibilities, including supervision of extracurricular activities after teaching hours
Hours: Monday - Thursday 8:00a.m. to 4:30p.m. or 8:30a.m.-5:00p.m.
Education and Qualifications ● Minimum of two years of college or equivalent experience required. ● Demonstrated ability to work effectively with teenagers, balancing library uses with humor and empathy. ● Proficient in Google Suite, library management systems (e.g., Alexandria), and research databases.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
● Library- related certification and/or degree
● Master’s Degree in Library and Information Sciences

Qualifications and Experience
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. In addition the person should have the following experience and/or education to perform the job successfully:
Experience in using and managing a library catalog and library research databases is highly desirable. Direct experience in one-on-one instruction, for example, as a tutor or school aide, is highly desirable
Understanding and support of the mission and goals of a college preparatory educational institution
Computer Skills
● Experience using a word processing program required; experience with Google Docs preferred ● Experience using other software programs, including spreadsheets and Google slides; ● Familiarity with iPad ● Experience maintaining web pages an advantage.

Salary and benefits Full-time, year-round benefited position. Position includes school holidays. Salary Range $25-40/hour that commensurates with experience of the applicant.
